16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

ACWW Member societies are actively supporting rural women, both in their communities and worldwide. Their stories of action offer insight and inspiration

One of our member societies from Zimbabwe, Ntengwe for community development (PVO 42/10), share what they are doing to support action against gender-based violence in their communities:

“One key action [we] undertake is organizing community-led dialogues and workshops across the Matabeleland North region in Zimbabwe. These sessions create a safe space for survivors to share their experiences and for the community to engage in discussions on preventing gender-based violence. We partner with local leaders, law enforcement, and healthcare providers to ensure these dialogues are impactful and lead to tangible changes in attitudes and behaviours.

Additionally, we work closely with women's groups and provide support services, including legal aid and counselling, to women and girls who have experienced violence. We also conduct advocacy campaigns that raise awareness about international human rights legislation, ensuring rural communities understand the protection frameworks available to them.”
