Save the Peace River Valley

Save the Peace River ValleyBC Women’s Institute is opposed to the construction of any further hydro-electric dams such as the proposed Site C on the Peace River.  Even though the resolution regarding Site C was adopted by the membership in 2008, it is still an on-going concern for the following reasons: human health, environmental impact and loss of valuable farm land.Power should be produced close to the point of use to eliminate power leakage in the long transmission lines.  Alternate sources of power such as solar, wind, geothermal, tidal, and run of the river should be considered in order to save this beautiful unique Peace River Valley for the next generations.(Image Credit: Gerry)
