16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence 2024
Violence against women and girls is one of the most prevalent and pervasive of human rights violations. The solution lies in robust responses, including investment in prevention.
Today – the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women – marks the start of the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence campaign.
Gender-based violence is a systemic issue affecting individuals globally. One is too many. Women and girls living in rural areas are particularly vulnerable to harmful practices and can face increased barriers to reporting the issues, accessing support and seeking justice.
We need systemic change: we call on governments worldwide to invest in prevention to eradicate violence against women and girls. We call on communities to unite to create change and end violence against women and girls. Please join us in sharing the messages over the next 16 days to amplify just how necessary this is.
